Vitamin C, how important is it?

It is a question many people have in their mind. Vitamin C is used in skin care to help prevent premature aging and damage from the suns rays. Vitamin C is also a necessary part of the body's production of collagen which is the fiber that makes tissues strong and elastic. Thus the use of Vitamin C skin care on daily basis is thought to help make your skin look full and firm.

Vitamin C is now often referred to as a wrinkle fighter, or an ant-aging agent. In scientific terms, Vitamin C is thought to increase the synthesis of collagen. Collagen is a structure, which is found in the skin. But even with the best preventative measures time does take its toll. Solar radiation, pollution and exposure to various toxins damage the cells prematurely aging the skin and the natural aging process leads to a reduced production of collagen.

Vitamins in skin care are one of the biggest trends in beauty products. They're so popular, in fact, that the number of skin care products containing vitamins has increased several fold recently. Topical vitamin C, also an antioxidant, works to neutralize damaging free radical molecules in the skin, thus helping to protect skin from the harmful effects caused by sunlight's UVA and UVB rays that can lead to skin damage.
